Sunday Devotional: Luke 1

“For nothing will be impossible with God.” Luke 1:37

It’s the Christmas season again.  It’s the time to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  And in reading the story of the birth of Christ, it is great to again be reminded at the power and glory of God.  God used a young virgin girl in Mary to help usher in the Savior of the world.  God used Mary’s relative Elizabeth, who was barren, to bear a son (John the Baptist) who would prepare the way for Jesus’ earthly ministry.  God was the one who has the power and ability to do these things.

In Luke 1:37, it is recorded the angel Gabriel finished the news he brought to Mary by saying “For nothing will be impossible with God.”  It is true.  Nothing is impossible with God.  It was true then and it is true now.  No matter the circumstances in my life or yours, God is bigger than them.  How awesome is that?

So in this holiday season, it’s good to be reminded again of a extraordinary God who used ordinary people to show His love to the world through His son Jesus.
