“We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2-5)
We as believers are called to live in community with other believers. To love and to worship God together, to encourage and build one another up and to share Christ with others. The Thessalonians were known for this. Paul in his letter to that church opens with sharing about how he and his co workers give thanks to God for them. He is encouraged by the word he hears of those believers and how their work and love has spread throughout the area. It is an encouragement to Paul just as Paul has been an encouragement to the Thessalonians.
Let us be like that in our communities. Let us labor and love for Christ this week and let us remember and encourage fellow believers to do that as well.
