“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.” (Titus 2:11-15)
We have our hope in Jesus. We have our hope in Jesus because of what he has done. He gave himself up and died for our sins. He did this so we could be redeemed back from our sin, so we can be made pure. He did this so we can be God’s people again. He did it so we can be about good works, not to make ourselves righteous, but because Jesus has made us righteous by His works.
Paul in his letter to Titus give a lot of instruction. These few verses here show how we are able to do those things. We can do them because of who Christ is and what He has done. Even in this present day, we can live holy lives that are pleasing to God if we follow Jesus because of who Jesus is and what He has done. Let us this week remember that and live that out.
