Sunday Devotional: Exodus 33:13-14

“Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.”  And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.””  (Exodus 33:13-14)

At this point, Moses is having a conversation with God about the Israelites.  They had gotten out of Egypt and Moses knew that they couldn’t get to the Promised Land if God wasn’t there with them.  So he pleaded with God that wherever they go, that God was with them.  God’s response to Moses reassured him that he would be with them.  Not only that, but that he would give them rest.

There is a calm reassurance being with God.  We can rest in Him knowing that He is in control.  We can trust Him to lead us in the right direction when we follow Him.  So this Labor Day Weekend, let us enjoy being with God and find rest in Him.

Sunday Devotional: Matthew 11

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

These are the words of Jesus that he is spoke to the crowds that had gathered around him.  Just as the crowds that gathered around Jesus were heavily burdened, today we have times where we are heavily burdened.  Whether those burdens are physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, we all have burdens to bear that sometimes can be overwhelming.  The great thing is that Jesus knows about our burdens and is there to help us through those times.  We can find rest in Christ if we allow Him to take control.  So in the midst of trying times, turn to Him.  You can find peace there with Him.
